Let’s Clean!

Tips on Getting Clean!

I don’t know about you, but this flu season has been rough on our family. Because some of our family members have low immune systems already, we have tried many different ways of prevention this season. Between soups and naps, there are some simple, every-day habits that we’ve been making sure to be better at, both inside and outside the home. Here are a few ways we’ve been helping to prevent the spread of germs:

Wash Your Hands Frequently:

Tips on Getting Clean! I know this seems like a “duh” reminder…but you would be surprised to know that one out of three people do not wash their hands after using the restroom. From the Mayo Clinic, here is the best way to wash your hands:

  1. Wet your hands with running water
  2. Apply liquid, bar, or powder soap
  3. Lather well
  4. Rub your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Remember to scrub all surfaces, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers and under your fingernails.
  5. Rinse well
  6. Dry your hands with a clean or disposable towel or air dryer
  7. If possible, use your towel to turn off the faucet. (I also like to keep my towel and use that to turn the door knobs on my way out.)

Disinfect Germ Hot Spots Often:

Tips on Getting Clean!

Disinfect the surfaces you touch frequently – like the remote control, doorknobs, light switches, faucets, plastic toys, countertops, and more with Clorox disinfecting wipes or spray. Disinfecting kills a variety of germs such as Staph, Salmonella, and E. coli virus such as influenza {the flu virus}, cold viruses, and fungus’. I don’t know about you…but I definitely don’t want any of those germ visitors at my house! Gross! {Visit Clorox.com to learn more about the importance of disinfecting and other tips for keeping you and your family happy and healthy.}

Do the Elbow or Tissue Cough

Tips on Getting Clean!

Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue instead of your hands to help prevent spread of germs by touch. Also avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible. Try some of THESE TRICKS to stop your cold before it gets worse!

Follow Good Health Guidelines

Tips on Getting Clean!

Eat right, get exercise and get plenty of sleep to help boost your body’s ability to fight the effects of cold and flu season. Try some Home Remedies to help your kids when they are “out of sorts” and sick. *Use as directed
