Need an Easy to Make Fresh and Fun Girlfriend Gift?
March 18, 2010 by Alison
I am loving this weather!!! 50 degrees, buds on the trees, kids playing outside…3 cheers for spring! Cutting and sanding in my garage is much more pleasant than the freezing cold winters or scalding heat summers.
So in honor of spring and the fun things we can do outside, I am showing you yet another…drum roll……………..2×4 idea! How did you ever guess?
This one though is super fast and will make you get the warm fuzzies as you give it to a friend, neighbor, loved one, bus driver {{my daughters bus driver is the greatest…really}}
Cut your 2×4 8 inches
Mod podge on the paper. I used green for grass…polka dot grass…whatever:)
Sand it down. If you want to stain it this is where you’d do it. I didn’t because I didn’t want to:) I thought it looked good with out any stain.
Fresh NAKED wood!
I used the silhouette to cut the flowers and leaves. Aren’t they cute?
Drilled 4 holes. I didn’t measure I just guessed where to drill. You know how much I wing it! I used a drill bit the same size as the the sucker stick.
If you are wondering how to make these suckers here’s the tutorial on how to make them. Oreo Cookie Suckers. Shelley made the one’s in the pictures!!!
Add your happy spring vinyl…one more shout out for spring!!!
Tie a fat ribbon around the block.
Stick your suckers in and TaDa!!!!
An easy and thrifty {{but they won’t know it}} gift to give to your whomever! It makes me smile…random gift giving. Giving because you are thinking about them, not because it’s a holiday.
YEA!!! I’m off to make a couple more! If you are still reading my post{{man I have long posts lately}}. I need to reward you:) So here you go…
I have 9 extra ‘Happy Spring’ Vinyl strips. Leave a comment and I will send 3 people 3 strips of ‘Happy Spring’ vinyl.
Spreading the warm fuzzies!!!

and HAPPY SPRING! to YOU!
Love this! I will be featuring it 4/7! Very pretty.
Where do you get the Bonnie script?
I just love this idea. My brain is going already about all the things that I could do with this. What about paper crafted flowers or photos of your favorite spring scenes or the favorite of the person you are giving this too. All the different things that could be put in the top besides suckers and change the title on the block too. How about balloons, or candy kabobs, photos attached to sticks.
It might just be me but this seems sort of vague, I am in the middle of this project and am confused about the modge podge, I double side taped my paper down to the wood so it would stay in place while I modge podged over it, am I supposed to do that? Or was I supposed to put a layer on the wood itself, then place the paper on and modge podge again over it? My paper is getting a wrinkled/bubbled up look to it :/ Should you use the thicker cardstock with this project?? I don’t have vinyl words so I did a rub on transfer that I liked, I did it before the modge podge because I was worried it wouldn’t transfer onto the glazed stuff very well. Do you modge podge all over the wood? I guess I’m confused why you’re using the modge podge? Did you do the paper design on the back side of the wood as well?? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just a detailed person and need step by step instructions, some of us are a little slow
How about a video…watch this:)

This was my first try at making one of these and I was fairly pleased. I was a little dissapointed in the cookies, but I guess I can’t expect it all to turn out perfectly like the example on the first try
. Thanks for the great idea!
As soon as I saw this I knew I had to make it for my bestfriends B-Day. <3 it!!!
