Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Happy Monday! I’m excited to share with you one of my very, favorite treats! (Favorite because it’s super easy, delicious, and there’s hardly any clean up!) ;)

I don’t know if I even need to write instructions, you can probably get it all from the photos! (But, I’ll add some captions just in case!)

Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Think of something creative to make out of the rolo wrappers…{optional}

Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Cook at 350 degrees for only 3 minutes! Top each rolo with your favorite nut {don’t burn yourself on the pan…it hurts.} I’ve tried pecans, cashews, almonds, and m&m’s {my mom’s idea}. They were all super!

Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Munch away! These are great for a quick treat after school, after dinner, after a family game night, for a neighbor, for a party, or actually anytime! Warning: you will get chocolate on your fingers…please lick it off slowly! ;)

Rolo Pretzel Turtles

I love them the most when they’re warm…they’re not bad cooled off either! ENJOY!

I was addicted to these when I was pregnant! A hazelnut, a pecan, m&m’s and toffee were my favorite toppings.

  2. jessica says:

i am pregnant and this sounds wonderful..too bad i have to wait until 3:30 to indulge:)

  3. Kim Canell says:

Works great with Snyder’s Butter Snaps or Rold Gold Butter Checkers. They have grid shapes and hold the Rolo on perfectly.

    • Terry says:

I use the Grid Shaped Pretzels as well. I put them on a microwavable plate with the Rolo on top and microwave for just about 5-8 seconds and then place a pecan half on top. I love the ideas for the other toppings!

This is a great treat that the kids can help with also!

  4. Catherine says:

I LOVE this idea! Rolos are one of my favorites. My favorite recipe to make with them is “surprise” cookies: chocolate cookie dough (you can make it semi-homemade with a German Chocolate cake mix) wrapped around a Rolo & formed into a ball. They melt in the oven so you get a chocolate cookie outside & caramel center! Only problem is you have to eat them warm; I haven’t figured out yet how to get them to not be rock-hard once they cool.

  5. Sherri D. says:

We make dozens of these at Christmas and top them with half pecans.

  6. Monica says:

    These look soooo yummy!

  7. Mo says:

I have also made these at the holiday time when the “ring” pretzels (just a circle) are available. Pop the rolo in the center and when they are still warm, press a half of a pecan on the top…YUMMMMM….. they are nice to give as little gifts to neighbors, etc.

  8. Missy says:

I love these! I actually make these every Christmas with kisses instead of Rolos. The kids love it cause they can help make them and I love it cause the kids feel like they are helping but there is minimal mess! So easy and so yummy!

  9. Robin Baez says:

I can’t wait to try this, I can use these over the summer…I have 3 hungery boys who love chocolate. I think I will try them with lower sodium pretzels (for hubby) and sugar free chocolate (for my diabetic son)….When I get them done…I got to go shopping I’ll let you know how the change went…

  10. Shelley says:

Yes Please. I’ll take two dozen. ;) —We are making these for FHE tonight. Thanks for the inspiration.

  11. Emily Beitz says:

I have never made these, but I think a marshmallow on top would be good especially if you toasted it too!

  12. Stacey says:

We’ve been making these for years! They’re AMAZING! I’m glad more people are learning about their wonderfulness!!! They’re perfect for parties – we’ve had them at baby showers, blessing “luncheons” and all kinds of stuff! I think I need to go make some right now and have a party in my tummy! :)

  13. Kathryn C says:

I need to make a batch of these stat! I’m due with baby #2 at the end of the month and my mouth is watering at the pics – delish! Thanks for sharing. :)

  14. Jill Jackson says:

Ooo, those look so good! Can’t wait to try them out!

  15. Alison says:

    Your pics rock!
These look so good. Cute post Caley!!

  16. Kim says:

Let me preface this by saying that nuts do not belong in ANY dessert. EVER. Having said that, I’ve tried both the M&M topper and the pecan topper. And the pecans are WAY BETTER. Remember I said nuts are yucky? Well I don’t know what kind of magic happens when you use them on top of a pretzel and rolo, but it’s brilliant I tell you!

  17. Brandy says:

I’ve made them with the rolo and pecan before and they were tasty but I think the next time I’ll try a peanut butter cup and a marshmallow.

  18. I never heard of making these before. Thanks for sharin’! I love turtles, I’m going to have to give these a try. They sound way too easy to make. I love easy! :)

  19. Lisa says:

I love these! People always make them around the holidays but we forget about them during the rest of the year. Why not have them in the spring too? YUM!

  20. Ashley says:

my sister has made these with hershey’s hugs and kisses instead of rollos. they were really good, but i’m excited to try rollos too!

  21. Amy A says:

Love these!!! I am planning on making several batches to give out at church for Father’s day. Does anyone have any fun packaging ideas? Will do about 100, so need something fairly inexpensive. Thanks!!!

  22. Monica says:

We love these!! They are our new Christmas snack but I am thinking we need these all year long! Our favorite topping so far has been the pecan but I think we need to give the peanut M&M a try!

  23. Maria says:

I love making the Rolo turtles! My favorite topping is good ole’ pecans :)

  24. Kim says:

I make these at Christmas time every year. With a red m&m, they look like little Rudolph’s! They are always a big hit!

  25. Andrea M says:

The Pretzel M&Ms are a great topper!!

  26. Laura says:

these are awesome and quite addicting. we made them at Christmas with Hershey Kisses and red/green M&M’s and gave them as gifts. great for the mailman, postlady and trashmen!

  27. Shannon says:

Thanks for posting this! I bought a plate of these (with m&m’s) at the hs band bake sale last year, and have been wondering how to make them ever since.

  28. Minnie says:

I usually make them with Hershey’s hugs or kisses (the hugs come out really cool and swirly) and then an M&M on top!

  29. Laura says:

Yummmm! I’ve made the M & M ones, but Rolos, yes please! Please stop by http://www.laughloveandcraft.com and link up to my Share the Wealth Wednesday Link Party! I’m your newest follower!

I read your post yesterday, and I made these last night. They were TO. DIE. FOR! So easy and so good! I used Rold Gold “Checkers” pretzels and Rolos. I had pecans and cashews on hand so I made some with both types of nuts. They were all awesome. Thanks for sharing this simple recipe for an AWESOME treat!

  32. Megan says:

Hi! We make these all the time! I think it’s easier if you use the little “snaps” pretzels (the ones that look like checkerboards). The holes in them are tinier so the chocolate doesn’t melt all the way through. In our version we just put one pretzel on top and one on the bottom, like sandwiches! also we back them at 250 for about 5 minutes. Just long enough to make them melty :o ) YUM!

PS – I love the m&m idea – cute for a party to add some colors!

  33. Natalie Johnson says:

I think the only problem that this recipe holds for me is that the ingredients may not ever make it to the oven! I LOVE rolos! –Maybe I should ask my husband to make them for me. =)

  34. Carol B says:

I LOVE these! I have made these every Christmas for years with pecan halves. They are always a big hit whenever and wherever I bring them. I can’t make them without having to bring them somewhere…otherwise I would eat every single one of them! Might as well just plaster them on the ol’ hips!

  35. angie says:

I love them topped with pecans too! Here in the south, everything is better with pecans ;) YuMMy! I may need to go to the store real quick…
    :)

  36. Oh wow. I want these right now. Pinning…

  37. Carol says:

I bet the peppermint kisses would be awesome with the m & m’s and checkerboard pretzels.
