Great Magic Trick #2.
If you missed #1 Great magic trick you are in luck. I posted it a bit ago so you can be a cool magical mom!
I love doing these magic tricks because it lets me watch my squirts think and learn.
Other reasons…
cheap
easy
fun.
and kids are already bored from all their Christmas presents!
And in the end there is the ‘coolest mom’ factor. I’ve got them tricked for a few more years.
Now I just have to figure out what will make me still cool when they are teenagers.
So on with the show…er…trick!
The magic question…how do you get the white powder on the spoons turn into colorful swirls like this?
MAGIC!
Kind of…
Items Needed:
- Vinegar
- Water
- Baking Soda
- Spoons
- Food Coloring
- Clear cups
- This bullet point is driving me crazy. I’ve deleted it 4 times and I can’t get rid of it. So you don’t need another thing. I just wanted to explain the floating bullet point.
-
DO this part WITHOUT the kids. This is the secret to the magic. Put a drop of food coloring on the spoon.
Now cover it up with baking soda.
Leaving one spoon with no color under it. Remember this spoon!
Fill 3 of your glasses half way with water and the fourth glass with vinegar.
Then bring in the participants! You’ll be sure to get 100% attendance.
My daughter squelled with delight when the magical powder turned yellow!
They turned them all colors but I held off on the one…until last. It’s got to top the others.
It did! Literally. It topped the glass and then ran over.
OHHH fun times…when colors still easily entertain the kids and me!
Here are a bunch of other boredom busters too. How about 17 of them! Including Great Magic Trick #1

I saw this idea the last week on this site

And my kids loved it! It was a hit. Just make sure you watch how much vinegar you put in, we found an inch at the bottom to be best!
Oh how funny. I took these pics last summer, but just got around to posting it. That is a fun blog. Thanks for sharing!
Another excellent idea!
My daughter will love this!
Great idea! I will have to remember this for when my daughter gets a little bit older.
Ooooh, I love this! I’m going to do this today! (Like half the country, we have a snow day, so I imagine we’ll have some extra time to fill!)
This would of come in handy a few months ago when I was teaching the scouts magic tricks! I will have to remember this one next year!
That’s one of our faves- I actually have used it in Primary lessons several times!
