Your Picks. Your Place. -$10,000 Apartment Guide Sweepstakes
June 15, 2011 by Shelley
“Where thou art – that – is Home”. ~Emily Dickinson
Two weeks ago, my little family left the only place we’ve ever known as ‘home’. We packed our bags and made the 2,000 mile trip across country. It was a bittersweet goodbye. Today we have a new place to call home. A new adventure, a new place to make memories. This is our new (super old) rental home for the next year…
Our big move really made me ponder the question, “What makes a house a home”? Of course the people and memories you make in it. But there is more to it than that. The space, the lighting, the design, the decor, even the smell. No matter what space you are currently living it, whether it be the mansion on the hill, or a 500 square foot studio apartment, it’s yours. A blank canvas, waiting for you to make it unique to you.

Are you ready for this?!?!?!?

Wait for it,… WAIT FOR IT….

One of YOU is going to win $10,000, (yes you read that right), to redesign your place to fit your personal style.
Apartment Guide is hosting the first ever “Your Picks. Your Place.” Design challenge. All you have to do is vote.
I could sure use that $10,000. What are you going to use it for? What is your style? My style evolves with time. If you were to peek in my sun-room window today, you’d see this (and a few unpacked boxes)…
I wish I could peek through all of your windows (in a totally NON-creepy way) and see the design/decor in your home.
Everyone has his or her own unique sense of style. To help demonstrate different design possibilities, Apartment Guide has partnered with four bloggers to select items to fit different design themes. Hi! My name is Veronica, and I hope I am doing this right to win (what I understand to be) an apartment “makeover”. I’ll try to keep it short and explain why we are in dire need of it. When people say bad things come in 3′s, my hubby and I are the exception. I started getting ill several years ago which my hubby was so worried, he asked me to stop working. Which was a good thing because, not to long after that, I had 2 unexplained severe seizures back to back. The first one, I almost fell through the 3rd story window but ended up hitting my head on the window seal and came close to bitting off my tongue. As soon as I was released and brought home, I had another one. It caused some memory disturbance which I am still working through but it’s very emotion. One year later, for no apparent reason, I drove our car head on into what they call “the jersy wall”. During this whole time it’s been one thing right after another with PTSD and other medical issues. My hubby, who served time in Iraq/Baghdad, stood by me the entire time. No questions asked. I don’t get assistance from anyone. ANd winning this would be such a GOd send!! Our couch is litterally broken down to the spring, our ottoman has the filling coming out, our chair has broken springs so, no one can sit there. Everything went at one time and it was just added stress to Dan and extra depression for me. He still uses his childhood dresser! I have to borrow pots and pans to cook dinners. I know that GOD is looking out for us and I have faith!!! I just get… tierd sometimes. So, I saw this promotion and said, maybe I can try.
Thanks for listening.
