Twins’ Nursery on a Budget

Twins Nursery on a Budget

Several months ago I posted my little guy’s bedroom.  I moved him out of the nursery and into his ‘big boy room‘  so I could change the nursery GIRLY.  Goodbye blue, hello PINK!  Eek! :)

When we found out we were expecting two, we immediately starting buying in double. Double strollers, double car seats, double bouncers, and yes EVEN double cribs.  Sheesh! Buying in double is expensive!  A budget was extra important for this nursery.

We live in a small home, with very small rooms. Trying to fit two cribs in this nursery was near impossible!  But where there is a WILL, there is a WAY. {Told you they would fit Honey!}

I couldn’t photograph this whole room because there simply wasn’t room for me to stand. Hopefully you get the idea. ;)

My mother-in-law is over-the-top talented and painted this ‘O’ to match the crib bedding.

Oh aren’t they sweet!

Two of everything makes me smile…

Do you remember the how to make a hair bow holder post?  So easy and so fun!  -I added a feather boa to the lamp shade for some texture.

I get to claim this ‘O’ and ‘H’! :)   Not quite as fancy, but still super cute (and easy)!

Oh what’s that?! You noticed that super adorable picture in their room and want a close up? Well,..Okay! :)

{a mother’s got to show-off, right?!}

This sweet vinyl tile was made by my one of my sweetest friends, Alison herself!

Total cost: $221 {excluding furniture}.

2 sets of bedding: auctioned on ebay for $60 each (x2) = $120

Chloe & Sophie letters= $44

Feather Boas=$12

Up-cycled Lamp Shade= $0

Frames= $40

Chicken Wire= $5

    Your mother-in-law painted all of the letters for my nursery! It is PERFECT and I keep convincing her to open an Etsy store! She even copied the toile fabric that we used! You can see the pictures here: http://laurenandeddie.blogspot.com/2010/07/weekend-update_27.html

  18. Wow! What a room! You are so talented and your girls are adorable. Congratulations! My favourite theme for a baby girl’s room is ladybug crib bedding, but in this case you’ve done such a great job you don’t need that advice! Best wishes to you and your family.

  19. Jamie DeYoung says:

    Also wondering where you got those ADORABLE lace leggings??? SOOOOO CUTE!!!

  20. Terra Brown says:

    I recently re-did our boys room ages 8 and 2 so I had to find a happy medium :) We chose a surf/hawaiian theme (we took them to Kauai last Christmas and they fell in love with it :) ) I would love to send you pictures it turned out darling! We painted a couple murals on the wall. My eight year old had an idea to make it look like a front window of a surf shop so we painted a mural, I had a 4×4 ft window that we put over the painting and with leftover bamboo flooring and a little rafia we made the coolest awning that comes off the wall over his bed. Found another PB surf bedding set on KSL for $40 to match the one we already had. It’s amazing what you can do with the stuff you already have :)

  21. Absolutely precious!! Shows what you can do with a small budget as long as you are creative and willing to do some of your own work. This room is so beautiful, but the most beautiful part are the baby girls!!

  22. Stacy says:

    So sweet! When I was planning my 2nd daughter’s nursery I probably spent, no joke, 2 hours A DAY for like 4 months on the Rate My Space site. So addicting. I didn’t help that one of my bff’s was also expecting a girl and we spent endless amount of time talking about all the nurseries on the site!

  23. Kristin Bolling says:

    i have a set of boy girl twins. It’s the best. I love their nursery, but I am totally looking forward to creating a new look as a toddler room. Any ideas? Also, their second birthday party is coming up. I am a HUGE fan of party planning. I want to make it the Noah’s ark theme and say something like “2×2 They’re Turning Two, Come Join Us for A Party At Our Local Zoo”

  24. Maggie @ Home Decorators Outlet says:

    beddings… I love it!!…congrats to your new twins.

    I love this. We are expecting twins too, but they are boy girl so I am REALLY struggling with how to decorate it and it is really stressing me out! Any tips?

    • Shelley says:

      Maybe same pattern different color? Brown/pink and brown blue? Look on etsy! Or there are some cute gender neutral sets these days (not just boring yellow). ;)

  33. Lindsey Duncan says:

    I have been reading your posts the past few days & I’m pretty sure we have the same life :) I also have a little boy with ID twin girls right behind him (20 mo apart). I’m planning their first b-day coming up & will be “borrowing” many of your ideas! You are so talented! Thanks for your posts & helping me feel like there’s hope for my creativity to thrive with this crazy (blessed) life!
