Thing One & Thing Two

November 10, 2009 by

things1Is there a reason for this post other than to show off how ridiculously cute my girls looked on Halloween?! Absolutely NOT! :) {Okay, and it shows off Missy’s amazing photography skills}.

Alright, I suppose I could make some reason for this post. How about the wigs? I used a blue feather boa and hot glued it to their little beanie hats. Easy.

I know they are mine,…so of course I think they are adorable!! But hopefully this made you smile too! :)

  15. Hi Shelley, those are simply the most adorable costumes ever! I’m currently working on a post for my blog, http://rookno17.com, featuring the best homemade costume ideas for children. I’m featuring an amazing hot-air-balloon costume made by a friend, and a really sweet cotton candy costume as well. I would love to spotlight your Thing #1 & Thing #2 creations and was hoping to have your permission (and Missy’s too) to use the photo, which I’d like to accompany with a link to your original post, so my readers would end up on your site. I noticed above that you gave a tip for how you made the hats, and would love to share your ideas or sources for the shirts (onesies?) and leggies too. Not only is your project phenomenal, but I know that my readers would enjoy the rest of your blog as well. I thank you, in advance, for your consideration! Warmest wishes, Jenn

Hi Shelly! I LOVE your twins costumes and I am currently trying to copy you. :) I have my wigs complete and ordered the onesies. How did you do their pants/leggings? Did you buy them or sew them? And is that material a red and white print or did you sew seperate strips together? (P.S. everyone I show your picture to has the same reaction, “AWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!”)
    :)

Hello! I came across your website by a google search for twin costume ideas. I am trying to convince my son (5) to be the cat in the hat and allow my 18 month old twins (boy girl) to be thing 1 and thing 2. Any chance you have these costumes for sale? OR would be willing to make and sell the wigs? You are so created. I am a party planning freak too, but not good with throwing costumes together. When my son turned 5 he had an insane pirate party and my twins’ first birthday was a mickey and minnie mouse these. It was amazing. Everyone said, “I felt like I was in disney!” Lf you send me your email address, I will send pictures if you want to use for ideas on your website.

Do you have a tutorial for those adorable hats? We had twin girls in February and my husband has had this costume idea planned since before they were born. So thrilled to stumble on your fabulous version. Love this blog. Just spent 2 1/2 hours browsing!

—The hats were just baby beanie hats with blue feather boas hot glued around and around the hat. Easy Peasy. Send pictures our way!!! :) shelley@howdoesshe.com
