A Free What? Giveaway time! A free Silhouette craft cutter…
March 1, 2010 by Alison
***This Giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Jennifer Bradshaw! Check out this post for an amazing HowDoesShe discount code on a Silhouette through the end of March. Thank you for participating in this giveaway!***
This post will make you glad you found HowDoesShe {{it makes me glad I found HowDoesShe}}!
We are SO excited to share this with you…
You know we {{especially Alison}} love using vinyl to finish off and add a touch of professionalism to crafts. We have told you about how personal cutters (ie. cricut cutters) are an amazing way to help you craft beautifully for yourself and for gifts which saves you thousands of dollars!
Well, we decided to research other personal cutters and show you what we found.
“I am a hands on gal and I need to see it to believe in it. I know cutting vinyl can be touchy and getting the blade to cut only the vinyl and not the backer paper can be tricky. I don’t want half of my letters cut, or my blade to bugger up the vinyl. I was very happy with how the Silhouette cut! It was easy to install on my computer and setting up the blades was quick. I love that I don’t have to buy different cartridges if I want to switch up the look of the craft. I also am a fan of how big{{or small}} it is. I know it needs to be hooked up to a computer to design, but there is a slot to hold a SD card so I can take it and use it elsewhere…like craft group or my sister-in-law’s house:) My cutter has saved me a ton of $$ on gift giving!!!” -Alison
“I am a party girl. I love the details in throwing a party. Lately I’ve been eying all the gorgeous paper products showing up at celebrations. Once I got my hands on the Silhouette, I was thrilled when I saw all the down loadable templates for scalloped labels, cupcake toppers, cupcake wrappers and more! I grabbed my scrapbook paper and got to work and created the adorable details in our St. Patty’s Day post.” -Shelley
“I love sparkles! With the silhouette you can download template designs, adhere the sparkles to the design and then transfer it to whatever you want! You can personalize clothing, cards, scrapbooks, etc.! I made a ‘birthday girl’ shirt for my daughter’s birthday coming up – I will post it soon. I can’t wait to sparkle more things!” – Missy
So…what did we find out?
It works! It works wonderfully! One of the best things is that you can use fonts off of your computer! Here is our post on our favorite free fonts.
No need to buy cartridges…why didn’t we invent this?

Just a little preview of how the Silhouette Craft Cutter works !
1. Here is a shot of the program. My requirement…it needs to be user friendly and something I can figure out without reading the manual…it passed!
2. Put your medium (vinyl or paper) on the mat and squish it down. The first time you use it…it is super sticky. I liked it better after a little stickiness is gone. Do you see the red and blue dots on the left side above the keyboard? You put those in the cutter and that determines how deep it will make the cut. For vinyl I used the yellow one??…it is in the cutter:)
3. Look at her work!
4. This is what it looks like after it comes out of the cutter.
5. Then for the tweezing. Pull the outside vinyl off and then go back through the letters and pull out the middles of the a’s, r’s, o’s…you get the point.
6. USE BACKER PAPER!!!! If I had to pull each letter off and stick it in a straight line…I’d go crazy. Backer paper is what you stick over the letters, rub it and then pull the backer paper off lifting the letters with it. {{Hint: for small projects you can use masking tape or painters tape}} Backer paper is just a huge strip of tape!
7. Place the letters and backer paper on the project. Rub it again and pull the backer paper off…tada!

Oh my goodness there are SO MANY ways I could use this! What a great idea!
WOW that looks AWESOME! I would SOOOO love to win a Silhouette Craft Cutter!! I think first I would make wall vinyls – I have so many ideas for around the house!
The Floating frame is one of my favorite projects!! ♥
Thanks for the chance to win!!
Oh, this is easy I don’t even have to go to the site! I’d use it to make a large wall piece for my daughters room, with birds and flowers and possibly garden gnomes. I’d LOVE to include the poem ‘Instructions’ by Neil Gaiman, or ‘Prayer for a Blueberry Girl’. Oh, the possibilities are endless with this…. my husband would probably have to give me time limits with it!!
I am finally retiring from teaching and have LOTS of grandbabies on the way–there will be showers and parties and celebrations-OH MY!!!!! I will wear that mahine out ;-D
i have been considering purchasing this for a while now. i could see some major home decor and customized gifts coming out of this. pick me! pleeeaaassseee… (p.s. love your blog.)
This looks like a great item! I actually just bought the Cricut Expression last week and am now kicking myself – maybe I’ll return it and get this great deal. I love that you don’t need cartridges. I love the glass etching projects featured on their website (especially the fish bowl). I’m really into scrapbooking and card making too! Thanks for the chance to win!
i would use it for every single one of those uses! what an amazing machine!
I have never even heard of this machine, but I can think of so many great uses! I would love to put some great quotes on my kids new shared room
WOW! It is not a matter of which one is my favorite but that I need more hours in the day to do all the projects I can think of with this crazy new tool! What a fun thing! I think I would start with the vinyl wall decor since I am in a redecorating mood right now! The possibilities are endless!
I am beyond thrilled to have this chance to win a Silhouette!!!! Thank you to everyone involved in this fabulous Give-A-Way!!!! Can you tell I am excited? LOL The FIRST time I researched the Silhouette was after seeing your post on the mugs with the vinyl done on them….After that, I fell in love with all of your vinyl ideas….So hard to choose a favorite one, but I would have to say it is the Vinyl Mugs….
I have been thinking about a cricut, but told to go professional if I’m wanting to add products to my website. I would love to try this product out, thanks for sharing the information. BTW~ I want to do ALL the stuff you can do with it, lol
OOh, I would love to win this product. I’ve recently gotten into card making but the supplies are so expensive. this would be a fantastic alternative. I’d also love to make glass etched 9x13s to give as wedding gifts!
I love the way this works, and love all the examples you have on your site! I have been looking for ways to cut back on money I spend – we are beginning foster care, going from 3 kids to 6, and I think this would be a great way to make gifts for family instead of buying them (and saving big bucks along the way)! I hope I win…
I have wanted a vinyl cutter for SO long! I have it written on my “wish list” and tacked to my bulletin board! I LOVE the ABC idea that you guys had a few weeks ago. It would be so cute in my little boy’s room! Thanks for all your fantastic ideas!!!
Oh my the wall decor is amazing it would most def be my first project. Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway! Melissa
This machine is simply amazing! I can think of hundreds of things I would use it for including wall displays for my daughters room, personalized picture frames, unique lampshades & so much more. I could also use it for the many kids craft activities I do on my personal blog. I’ve looked into buying a cricut but this may be a better investment!
I would be beyond thrilled if I won this! I’d probably start with wall vinyl (trees), but would definitely use it in all the different ways. Heat transfer onto fabric, gift boxes, it’s all too cool!
I can’t just pick ONE thing I would do with this! Making banners, adding vinyl lettering to my bedroom wall (which I have been WANTING to do). And the fishbowl is amazing, but I really like the cookie jar… I could imagine doing that to my juice dispenser!
ooooooh! im in love! this is amazing! id use it for our weekly craft days.. decorate my beebees room with vinyl decor.. presents for everyone.. so fun! thanks for the opportunity to win it.. and the hookup on a deal for one.
I would use it both for decorating my house and for gifts. I am a serial hobbyist and I can find a project anywhere! Bring it on! I’ll wear that thing out!
WOW!! This thing is awesome! I think my favorite use would be the heat transfers – my little guy is an 11-month-old wearing 2T clothes. He goes through them so fast that I’ve taken to buying plain clothes (because they’re usually cheaper), and I have been wanting to find a way to “spruce” the clothes up. This would be great!
My second favorite idea was the glass etching – there are so many ideas I have for that it’s ridiculous.
Love it! Even if I don’t win I’ll probably buy it!
So many options, I think I would use it on my flour and sugar jars to start things off, and think of all the cool gifts. Oh I am in love.
I would love to make home decor gifts to give to friends and family. Such great ideas!
I have been wanting to try glass etching! This would be perfect to use to monogram glass holders for candles!—– and then I would want to try the vinyls, the heat transfers, wow the possibilities!
Hard to pick just one use, but I think using it for gift items would be my top choice.
This is the first I have ever heard of the Silhouette. I was wanting to get the cricut but I think this would be better for me. I would love to use it for decorating…..everything! I love all the projects but I think I’m in love with mugs!
Lisa
WOW, double WOW!! I would not know where to start. Probably with some new decorating in my girls rooms.
I am pregnant with my 4th kid and a major room redo is in order for my existing 2 girls and boy. I would love the Silhouette to help with all of the personalization that I want to do on the walls and furniture! I LOVE VINYL!!!
Wow, this is amazing. I would love to use this tool to do glass etching projects. But it would be fabulous for any lettering project you want to look really professional, fabulous!!!
id be glass etching my little heart out! please pick me! (ps it is almost my birthday…the big 3-9 (you know-top of the hill) and then my hubby could give this to me!)
Vinyl cutouts, cards, scrapbooking. Who could choose just one thing to do with it! Thanks for the chance!
I would totally start with all the home decor projects that I have been putting off…like our family monogram plaque. I’ve been saving my pennies for a Cricut machine but the Silhouette craft cutter looks far more user friendly. It would be great to win. Thanks for offering such an awesome giveaway!
cards! birthday, get well, holiday, etc. plus, vinyl to etch glass. but i have GOT to try the new heat-transfer vinyl!!! every year, i make my kids (and granddaughter) t-shirts for holidays, like st. patrick’s day. using the heat-transfer vinyl will make it soooo much easier and neater-looking!
I would use it for all my vinyl crafting needs instead of buying the vinyl (which I have been doing ALOT lately). I make signs, blocks, wall decor, etc.
My favorite project is the floating frame. I have been wanting to make something like this. YEAH! Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway!
I would use it for scrapbooking, for sure…I’ve been researching the difference in the Silhouette and the Cricut, and think I’d get alot more use from this one! Thanks for the chance to win it!
I love the idea of being able to make fun and beautiful gifts for friends and family with the cutter. And I love the way Shelley used it to dress up her cupcakes. The parties would be so much more beautiful with the endless possibilities. Thanks for giving us the chance to win!!
Wow! I would definitely use the Silhouette for scrapbooking–titles, die cuts, journaling spots, photo mats–the list is really endless. I’d also make some of the cool stuff with vinyl that I have been seeing all over the internet. I’d like some wall decor–definitely have specific ideas for this–and for gift making similar to the Christmas countdown wall art or the pancake batter bowl. I love, love, love the “floating” photo display as well. Too many choices but I can see a whole new world of crafting opening up before my very eyes!
I’ve been wanting a cricut for a long time, but the cost of the cartridges just kept me away from it. I love the freedom of this product – and had NEVER heard of it until today!
I’d use it mainly for gifts and scrapbooking
The idea of glass etching! I would so do that!
I think i would “vinylize” my whole house! I really want a sign down the hall where i hang my kids art work that says “Look What I Made”. I hope I win!
I would love to have one for crafting. My 3 kids are old enough now that I am finally getting time to do crafts again after 10 years. It’s great to have my “me” time back. I would you it for vinyl decor and scrapbooking (10 years of family pictures that I haven’t had time to do)
I love it! I am trying to save money to fund an adoption, so I could totally use that to save money on gifts and such.
card making and vinyl!! this would be sssssoooooo nice to win!!! thanks for the chance!
Oh my goodness, so much goodness that I have on my some day list of projects…one of the ones that’s been there the longest, is vinyl to put over a chalkboard for a calendar, a tic tac toe board for my boys, and the dots game. I know I could do it with paint, but it would look so much better in vinyl!
There are so many ways I could use this!! I love the vinyl and scrapbooking, but the possibilities are endless.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, o my gosh, oh my gosh!!!!!! That is my dream right there. LOL I would use it for every single one of those applications. I want vinyl everywhere. I want stencils, I want to etch glass. I had resigned myself to using my Exact o knife because the Silhouette was so far beyond my price range. But a Free one. I would send pictures of everything that I ever made with it!!!!!!!! Come on Random Number Generator thingy!!!!! Look my way.
I would love it to cut vinyl! I have tons of projects I’d love to do.
Ohhh, I really hope I win this!!! I would love to try the glass etching!!! And I love that floating picture frame too!!!!!
LOVE IT!!! I’d never heard of it, but I like what I see! I am a party-throwing gal too, so I’d definitely have to use it for that. My favorite of what you’ve shown..hmmm, so hard to choose- I like them all, so lets say the pancake batter bowl! March 31st is tooooo loonnnngggg to wait!!!!!
I think its time to get one of these. I’d use it for vinyl decorating, school projects, cards, or anything else I’m creative enough to come up with. Thanks for the giveaway! Oh, and etching glass would be pretty cool, too
I have wanted one of these little machines for the LONGEST time!! I would LOVE to win this machine. I wish I could afford to buy it!! I would use it for everything! I’m obsessed with vinyl lettering. I sooooooo wanted to make some of those hot cocoa mugs that you made around Christmas time to give away as gifts….and some for myself
I hope I win!!
It’s hard to pick just one way I would use this! Most likely it would get the most use in my craft projects and for vinyl. Great giveaway girls!
I would use it every day! I have so much I need to do since I don’t know anybody who has a vinyl machine!! I would use it for sayings for my walls, bathroom, livingroom, kitchen, vases, windows, frames, scrapbooking and cardmaking! glass etching, paper cutting and the more I look at the website the more I want to do it all! Thank you so much for the chance! I can’t wait!
I WOULD USE THIS!!! I want a vinyl cutter in the worst way. From decorating my baby and little girls bedroom, to making cost effective presents for my my family (9 siblings and 21 nieces and nephews is expensive to buy for at birthday time!)It is so fun to personalize and get creative! Not to mention, I did the happy birhday board for my sons first birthday and had to use little sticky letters to “make due” while I and am having to pay someone make the vinyl letters for it-how fabulous would it be to make my own! My head would absolutely pop off with joy if I won the silouette! YIPEE! Great job on the awesome giveaway yet again! Your site is the best!
I would definitely use it for scrapbooking and vinyl lettering! Love all the projects above! People are so creative!
Wow! I would love to use it for the walls in my house. Glass etching sounds interesting, too.
I have been looking into the cricut, but don’t like the idea of the cartridges {another $80 each}. I love this idea! When does the promocode expire? {If I don’t win…I will HAVE to buy it.} I would use it to make quotes & things for the wall & craft projects. First, I would make some Easter or Spring blocks.
I would use it for everything. I have been begging my husband for a cricut but this looks even better.
Wow! I love the fact that you wouldn’t have to buy cartridges to be able to do anything! I would love to be able to win this, and plaster my house and crafts with vinyl! What in the world did we do before we had these nifty vinyl cutters!?
It’s hard to choose…I think I would like to try the heat transfer first…and then maybe some ethcing…and then I would have to do some home decor…decisions decisions….LOL
Only 7 ways? I would use it for all 7. I have a cruit that is on it’s last leg (it randomly stops cutting) and I would love to be able to cut out vinyl in any font and have you seen the House of Three stuff for the Silloette? I am in LOVE. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a cool prize. p.s. I already subscribe to your feed and I would again if I could. =)
I know I would use this beauty for scrapbooking, card making, and papercrafting….but if I win I commit to using it in all of the suggested ways, hey who knows maybe I will fall in love with a new form of crafting (wouldn’t my husband be thrilled) lol
So cool! I don’t know if I’d use it more for vinyl or glass etching!
I would start with wall vinyls, and then go crazy from there! I’m redoing my son’s room right now in a jungle theme. Just think of the giraffes I could make!
Love it! I would love it for just about anything. I really enjoy trying anything when it comes to crafting…so this would work well. Thank you so much for the chance to win. I already follow you!!!
Geez! I think I’d use it for all 7 ways, not just one. lol. But probably the vinyl the most. I’d never heard of this either. Cool product!
Blessings-
Sarah
Are you kidding me? I would use it for every possible thing I could! I have been leaving hints with my husband that I want a sillhouette, but I don’t think he’s catching on. I would LOVE to win this! It would be put to good use in my home!!
The floating frame would be the first many many projects I plan to do. Gift giving will not be a problem for me anymore. This will also help me with my scrapbookking. So many ideas, I just can’t wait to get one.
What an awesome machine!!! Heat transfer and school projects…LOVE IT! I can think of a million and one ways to use it…Pick me!!!
My sister (who, alas, lives on the opposite side of the continent) has one of these and has extolled its virtues for a while now! I have a long list of items I want to make for home decor and gifts that use vinyl, and having my own silhouette would save the cost of ordering vinyl or the work of using handmade stencils.
Thanks for the reviews!
I’m in love with this machine.. I have been looking in to buying this type of machine I would so use it for the Vinyl cut outs..
I’ve been wanting to get a CriCut, but the price and having to purchase additional cartridges has held me back. If I were to win the Silhouette I’d finally be able to decorate my kids’ rooms with vinyl and use all the awesome ideas I’ve learned from you to make beautiful gifts!
Love this! I would used it on all sorts of projects around the house like the floating frame. I love the fish bowl idea too.. so great!
I actually just used a friend’s last night for the first time and it was AMAZING! I would love to own one of these!
My favorite use would definitely have to be heat transfer, so many things to decorate and so little time!!!
I would mainly use this for vinyl and scrapbooking but I would love to try some of it’s other uses too!
Which ONE? I would use it for a few… vinyl decor for sure, glass etching looks really cool, of course school projects, and maybe even try heat transfer… that looks fun! Thanks!!
I love it! I love how you can use your own fonts! Wahoo! I think I’d use it for vinyl and etching. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh my! This is fabulous! I love the fact that you don’t have to buy all those cartridges! Wonderful!
I love vinyl, so that would be my first focus… then I love the idea of the heat transfer! Super fabulous giveaway. I hope I win!
This thing seems so dang cool. I would use it for everything. I love the glass etching ideas. Soooooo fun!
Oh I could really use this!!! I’ve been debating on weather or not to buy one….but…it seams my budget is in a recession too. I work with a youth group and would love to use this for our craft projects!! This looks like something right up our alley. You can take this anywhere your laptops goes and use your own fonts!! We could really use it for vinyl and etching projects!! What a great machine!! I was recently introduced to your site for about a week now and have already used alot of your ideas. (like the scruptious “best ever banana nut muffins”…oh they were killer!! I am a faithful follower now
Please enter me into the contest!
Thanks bunches,
Aki
I would use it mostly for cards but also decorating in my new house and scrapbooking from time to time.
I’d be alllll over all the cool vinyl projects with this baby!
I love vinyl lettering, and would love to have my own machine to do it instead of paying someone. The heat transfer looks pretty cool too.
Awesome! I love that it doesn’t use cartridges, how cool is that?! I would use the Silhouette for all of the uses but paper crafting would probably be my no. 1 use. I’m constantly doing handouts for RS and I could make them so much more creative using the Silhouette!
I would LOVE to use it for card making.
This is easy…I would definately use this for scrapbooking/cardmaking/paper crafting and vinyl. I have this wonderful short poem I’ve been meaning to order a vinyl of, plus I just had the idea of adding some vinyl damask or other fun pattern to my plain white ceramic tool holder.
I love that I’ll be able to take off the vinyl if I want to change the look and since we are in the military and move a lot, I’ll be able to remove the vinyl from our base housing walls. We have to get special permission to paint, so I haven’t really painted. Vinyl is the perfect alternative to add a little ‘something’.
I’ve been looking at the Silhouette for a long time – love that you can use your own fonts and don’t buy cartridges!
I love it!!! I spend so much money on the vinyl letters.. How great if I could make my own at home. It all looks like so much fun… I’m not sure what project I would start on first if I won.
Hello! i am a follower of this great blog of yours and I thank you for this great chance to win this giveaway! hands down I would use it for the vinyl! I really hope I win this! Thanks again from The Whispering Creek House!
Awesome!! I would make license decals for my car, personalized mugs and glasses, picture frames, wall vinyl. Lots and lots of stuff obviously! The glass etching on the website looks super neat and so does the heat transfers! I’m all about personalizing some tote bags!
Thanks for a great giveaway!!
WOW! What a great item this looks like! I would definitely use it for scrapbooking and vinyl! However I would definitely be trying all the other ways!
Awesome! I would love figuring out the vinyl decor!!
AH, I want one so bad! I my house would be covered in vinyl! I love all your cute projects with the vinyl. PICK ME!
Me Please! I love the Glass Etching Projects! That would be perfect for me to personalize gifts with. I Love that you have so many options, but still so simple! The machine wouldn’t get turned off around here!
I’m in! I’d love this so much. WHy? I’d use it to make banners, signs and car decals for our Childhood Cancer Walk for Curesearch in May! I’m the event chair and this would come in so handy! I’d use the vinyl first to make a car decal to advertise the walk and to help with fundraising!
I would definitely use it for vinyl! Lots and lots of vinyl projects!
scrapbooking, cardmaking, crafts….YOU name it, I could use this machine to do it all!
No cartridges? That’s awesome. I would love to use it for every vinyl project I could think of. Appliques for baby shirts would be fun too.
This is an awesome giveaway. I am new at crafting and have been wanting to get my hands on something like this. At Christmas I cut out some stencils to personalize Christmas ornaments for family and it took HOURS and didn’t look very nice, this would have really been great for that. I have a lot of ideas and I would probably use the vinyl decor and glass etching the most! I hope I win! And thank you or this great giveaway and your awesome blog.
I am obsessed with your ’26 ABC’ post and have been looking into buying a Cricut so that I could make something similar for all of my friends that are having babies. But the Silhouette looks amazing! I would definately use it for scrapbooking/card making… but would love to try out different vinyl projects! Thank you for posting about this… I may just have to do some research into getting one {If I don’t win it that is
}
Thanks for the opportunity!
I would LOVE to win this fabulous product! I could see myself using the glass etching on kitchen storage jars, the card making for some great homemade greeting cards, and I could totally use it for making fabulous scrapbooks! I have to say that my favorite thing the Silhouette can do, is the vinyl decor. I would love, love, love to use it to make my own wooden signs, wall decor, labels, etc. The Silhouette can do so much. What a great product!
I don’t consider myself “crafty” (yet) but after finding your website a couple weeks ago and seeing all that you can create with vinyl, I definitely have been inspired to start crafting all kinds of things! I definitely would start with the vinyl decor – wall quotes for different rooms in my house, wall decorations, gifts for family members, etc. I love the “We love daddy!” 2×4 and want to give that to my husband for father’s day. I am a stay-at-home mom to 2 children and think having the Silhouette would definitely be useful and save tons of money!! Yeah!! Very excited – thanks for the great giveaway!
Thank You SO much for the chance to win one of these AMAZING machines! I would use this machine ALL the time! I would use this most for decorating with vinyl and scrapbooking,(maybe i could finally get my wedding album done and start on my 2 boys’) This would also improve the quality of our monthly cardmaking parties as well!
I would be very excited to play with this machine and learn all of its many uses!!
I will definitely be using this to scrapbook with. I would love one and especially since they have joined up with House of 3.
Ummmm? Can I choose every way? The possibilities are endless!
I’d probably do a lot of vinyl work for my walls and crafts.
I have just been looking at all the different cutting machines and I LOVE the ones that don’t have cartridges. My husband is an elementary school teacher so we would use this a TON to cut out paper shapes and letters for his classroom. And then I’d use it for my projects at home.
PreSchool Parties!!
This is the best giveaway EVER! I would definately use it for vinyl so I could finally copy all your amazing projects that use vinyl!
Oh, this is exciting!
I’m thinking I’d start using it to cut vinyl, but I’m sure I would find a myriad of uses for it!!
It’s a toss up between vinyl decor and paper crafting. I would use it for so many things! I love to organize and label…this would eliminate all of my handwritten labels on stuff. This machine would be so much fun to have!!
Vinyl wall art totally!!! But I think I woulod use it in every way, love it!
Awesome!!!! I’d use it for vinyl, scrapbooking…gosh…I think I’d have to letter EVERYTHING!!! Cute ideas on the website (love all of the scraping layouts!)
Oooooh, etching & vinyl, that’s where I’d start, and then my family would have to force into a 12 step program to get me to back away from that awesome cutter!
What an amazing give-away. I would love to win one of these, I would use it for vinyl-for sure. I love the SD slot to make it portable!
oh my goodness, this looks like so much fun…I have really gotten into making clothes for my 2 & 4 year old granddaughters…I would use this for heat transfers on t-shirts that match skirts, on purses and bags and all kinds of sewing projects!
wow how exciting! wall vinyl decor would be the first thing I would use it for, but I would also use it for scrapbooking! thanks for the chance to win it!
I would love to use this for scrapbooking, but I would also make some stuff to personalize my presentation materials for my photography business.
I had no idea you could use the silhouette to create vinyl wall art! That is so awesome!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I’d put a sticker on everything that would hold still long enough!!! Oh what fun I’d have!!
Ok, this is really cool! I have so many ways I could use it – decorate my walls in my new home, do projects for the primary kids at church, gifts for every occasion! I love the etching ideas and the heat transfer is really cool as well. This would be an amazing prize to win!
Holy Moly. I can’t decide…but I’d definitely start with vinyl since I’ve tried cutting vinyl for my girl’s room BY HAND from start to finish and of course that took WAY TOO LONG! But glass etching looks super fun, too!
I SO want this cutter!
And I bet my husband would even use it (Teachers like cutting paper. It’s no secret!).
eeee! Awesome!!!

I would start using it with vinyl, but I can totally see myself branching off to use it in the other ways as well. IT Looks like so much fun!
Seriously?!!! What a great giveaway! I’ve been holding out on buying a cricut and I’m so glad I did. I could not narrow down what I’d use it on. I’d try out EVERY feature but I’d probably start with the vinyl, etching and heat transfer. I just made my daughter a shirt for her birthday and can’t wait to see your post on using the Silhouette. I have a feeling I’ll be making a new shirt for my daughter.
I loved all the cool ideas, but especially vinyl, paper crafting, and I would love to try out the heat transfer, that seems like such a cool idea. I think it’s great that you can use fonts on your computer.
I absolutely love the Silhouette cutter! I have wanted one of these forever! I would make a whole bunch of decor for my two little kiddos rooms! Wow… this Silhouette is awesome! I can’t believe all the stuff you can do with it! I will go crazy with this. I have so many ideas for Vinyl around my house, which I would probably use it for the most. But I love the idea of being able to heat transfer it on to your clothings or other home fabrics. This thing is awesome! I love that you can download the fonts off the internet. That is the best thing of all. What I would use it for… everything! I’m a brand spankin’ new stay at home mom and my husband is in grad school. So you can imagine just how little money we have.
I’m always looking for ways to brighten up our home as well as create nice gifts for others while on a tight budget. If I just had to choose one thing to use all the time, it would probably be the Vinyl decor. You can do so much with vinyl!

What a fantastic tool! I would be all over the vinyl first – such a great way to make all my home made projects look a little more professional. Too fun!

I would love love to win a Silhouette Cutter! I’ve been looking at vinyl lettering and quotes for my laundry room and master bath. With the Silhouette I could make my own! Fabulous giveway:)
vinyl and rhinestones. Fun, fun, fun!
Umm… What would I not use it for! I have been dying for a machine like this but we are paying off student loans so it is going to be awhile. I can’t imagine a craft that I wouldn’t use it with. I love, love, love that it can cut vinyl and and I love the paper crafting possibilities. My husband is a school teacher and this machine holds endless possibilities for decorating his classroom. I think that is my number 1. I could redo my husband’s classroom to be super classy and awesome. Do you know how much you could use this for his class assignments? Wow! I think the fun things he could do would really get his classroom involved. (The fact that I could do my craft projects doesn’t hurt either. Oh man, this is the best giveaway ever, this turned into a really long comment. I am just super excited!
vinyl…and all of the above I’d think!
Wow! What a terrific give away! I would use it for vinyl on crafts (wood blocks and such!) and definitely for card making. I’m so excited!

I think paper crafting is the safe answer here, that covers most of the bases.. a better question would be what wouldn’t you use it for?
The possibilities are endless!
Wow, wow, WOW! I’ve researched the Silhouette before and really love what it can do! I would use it for paper crafting, card making and scrapbooking. I love this hobby!!
I’ve been a follower of this blog since its inception… My stepmom was one of your teachers and recommended it to me!
I would use the Silhouette for so many things for me & my family at home but I would love to use it for my kids school. I spend 6-8 hours there every day & would love to be able to use this machine to help the school raise funds, appreciate their teachers (card making), decorate the classrooms, better looking class yearbooks and so much more. Not to mention my twins would have the prettiest Science Fair projects ;o)
Thank you for giving this away.

Oh my goodness what wouldn’t I use this for? Cards and vinyl would be my favorite!!!
I would LOVE one of these! I have been debating on which personal cutter to get, all my friends have a Cricut but this seems so much more versatile! I definately would be using it for vinyl decor! And maybe I could find a new favorite project!
I’d love to try making Vinyl Decor for my home and to personalize back of my laptop.
EEEK!! I’m so excited! I would LOVE to use it to work with vinyl (which I have never done) or as a transfer for T-shirts or Etching. SO EXCITED!
I would use this machine first for the heat transfer option. There is a missing boy in our neighborhood and I have been a huge part on helping with the search. I would make tee-shirts for us all to wear. Purchasing these shirts are just too expensive.
The second thing I would use this machine for would be for our (Me and my kids) Scrapbooking Projects and School Projects.
Thank you so much for this giveaway! I am sure whoever wins will LOVE it
I have to agree wit the others – what WOULDN’T I use it for?!
But for me it would probably be mostly scrapbooking and papercrafting – although their “heat transfer” ideas were really interesting, and yes, that fish bowl is awesome!
I would use it for vinyl cutting!
I want one SO VERY BADLY. I’ve been drooling over it for a year now. I love that it doesn’t require cartidges, but instead all the fun fonts I already have. What I KNOW I would use it for is super fun gifts for my kiddos teachers (why do they have so many???) and honestly, they are SO wonderful for taking a part in my children’s raising. I want to make the germ sanitizer vinyl message, the coffee cup and batter bowls, maybe a popcorn bowl. I also saw a teaher gift of a clear ornament fill with colored tinsel (coordinating with school colors) with vinyl lettering that said ‘Mrs. White’s Class” that I’m just dying to make. OH PLEASE, OH PLEASE, I hope I win this thing…….
I was just look online the other week for such a tool. This is what I was looking for. Too many projects to choose from.
Oh my gosh!! I have wanted one of these forever!! I would definatley use it for Vinyl cutting and Paper Crafting the most. I LOVE me some vinyl and have a cricut – but only 1 cartridge, so I don’t use it very often. The BEST part about the Silhouette is that you can use your PC fonts!! I am a font ADDICT and have SO MANY cute things I could do with this!!!
I am SUPER excited
How fun! I would love to use this in card/gift making & wrapping. If everyone had one of these, every gift would be a great one…even socks for christmas;)
I would love to try the heat transfer to make special shirts. I am also a scrapper and cardmaker, so it would definitely get some action!
PS: and Glass Etching??? WOW! I’d like to try that too – what unique gift ideas!
I love typography so I would go crazy putting fonts on everything and anything in my house, on clothes, on cards- the opportunities are endless!
Oh my Heck!! I’d LOVE a Silhouette!! What would I use it for? Vinyl lettering and making cards….and oh, so much more!!
Thanks for such an AWESOME giveaway!!
I’ve been really slow to jump on the vinyl bandwagon but I would love to get started by making my own vinyl decor! Thanks!
The website is FANTASTIC with all kinds of GREAT ideas! (love the Brooke cupcake under the paper crafting heading….I would HAVE to make that!) I would start with the vinyl lettering as well
! That may sound redundant, but hey you can’t go wrong with vinyl! I’ve been SO jealous, ok not jealous per se, because that wouldn’t be nice
, but I’ve been wanting to be able to create such amazing projects like you ladies do…. Maybe this would be the start! Thanks for the opportunity!
Good Luck to all!
For sure vinyl decor, crafting, and the heat transfer is pretty dang cool! WOWZAS ladies! HOT giveaway!! WOOT!
I would use this uber-cool device for paper crafting, paper crafting and more paper crafting!! Owning this would be a dream come true-everything I make will actually look like I know what I am doing! How exciting-thanks for the opportunity.
It is AMAZING! I would definitely do the vinyl and the glass etching, but the heat transfer looks incredible! What a great product!
I have been sooo jealous of everyone that has been making vinyl projects lately because I do not own a machine that cut vinyl and I have to buy all mine from a dealer…this can be expensive! I would be SUPER excited to finally have everything I need to make the projects I want all at my fingertips!
I never knew something like this existed!! OMGOsh! I am just starting my own decorated cookie business to fill my empty nest and I could use this to make tags. I could resume my scrap booking making efforts since I stopped when my son was 5. He is now 22! I also love the glass eching on the cookie jar container. So endless all the possibilities. Thank you to all for your generosity too.
there are sooo many cool idea’s on the web site. i am kind of new to all this, and am just totally awe…mazed at the great idea.
I think i would use it first for paper crafting. And then i ‘d like to learn more about vinyl crafting. However i am a little mag pie ish… i love anything with a sparkle…!
The possibilities are endless! I would definitely use it to label a 3 drawer toy chest that I’ve been eyeing for my son, so he can recognize the name of his toys, like “trains, puzzles, blocks”, etc. I would also use it when I scrapbook to make super cute page layouts and cards for the many birthday, baby showers, baptisms and parties that we attend… that would be a great money saver! I just realized that I could also use it to label the costume bags that my hubby supplies for the tahitian headpieces & costumes he makes! It would definitely add a personalized touch to his finished orders… such a great machine!
