Mother of the Week Nov 9th

November 9, 2009 by

mom-1My mom, Lyn is an inspiration. She is the mother of 3 kids…she had all three of us before she was 23. She is now the grandmother of a 1 year old boy. (She doesn’t even look like a grandma, does she?)
She was born in the Philippines in poverty. She met my dad who was in the Air Force and was able to come to the United States to better her life. All of her family is still in the Philippines, and Lyn tries her best to help them by sending packages or money whenever she can.
Currently Lyn is working to become a Surgical and Licensed Practitioner Nurse. She has faced many trials in the process of furthering her education to better her life and the life of her family. My mom is one of the hardest workers, and she never gives up. She is a great example of fulfilling dreams and making sacrifices in order to help others. Now that her children are all in their 20s and she has cared for and met our needs, Lyn is finally finding time to further her education, reaching her dreams. My mom deserves it!

Congratulations Lyn on being HowDoesShe’s Woman of the Week. MaryAnne, Thanks for Nominating your Mother! We think she is pretty amazing too! :)

Shelley

Shelley is one of the three founding editors of How Does She. She’s a spunky wife & mother of three, an interior design guru, and a party throwing queen. She loves cooking for crowds, eating good food, and dressing up like a girly girl. Shelley may need a 'pintervention' soon, as she is seriously addicted to pinterest.

Keep it up Lyn, My Mom went back to school at age 40 to become a nurse also. She still had 7 kids at home and was working full time. I know it was really hard for her but she was able to show her children that you can do anything you want to. She was a great example to me and I know your kids are all proud of you!
