I too hate squeaky beans. Even to the point of wearing gloves to pick them from the garden, when I've bothered to grow the horrid things. But your comments here and the recipe are rather intriguing; I'll have to try this. Thank you - I may expand our vegetable choices to something beyond canned green beans!

Just found your website, and LOVE it..signed up for the newsletter/email..I made these green beans for my (almost) 2 year old, Windsor, and she loved them..she asked for MORE! So, thank you for sharing this. I am planning her 2nd birthday party (which is in a month) and I have already gotten sooo many ideas from your site that I plan on implementing in her party..I am not very 'artsy' or 'crafts-y' but I feel like I can do some of this stuff! Thanks again!

I, too, just discovered a way that I can stand to eat green beans - grilled! I toss them (fresh ones, of course) with olive oil, minced garlic, and s&p, then throw them on my grill pan with some red peppers. When they're done, I dice the red pepper and toss them together. They come out crispy and flavorful, and actually good! :)

Another great way is ti cook as usually and then melt a tablespoon of butter and a 1/2 teaspoon of beef boullion (spelling?) to coat instead of salt and pepper. So yummy!

I hate 'squeaky' ones too! LOL. This is by far by favorite way to eat green beans. -The wispy ends get a little crunchy when caramelized, {my favorite part},...but that's not for everyone! :) Thanks for your comment.

Oh, this would get rid of that horrid tendency green beans have to be "squeaky" when undercooked. Have any of you ever had them like that? Do you know what I mean when I say squeaky?
I like most of my vegetables to be a bit firm and cooked *just barely* past being crisp, but not so with green beans. If you don't cook green beans completely, it just doesn't work. bleh.
I must admit, I would break off both ends - those frizzled wispy ends do not look appetizing to me. But the rest of the dish does!
Thanks for sharing a new way to serve this healthy dish.

We love to saute green beans in a little bacon grease. When they are done we add some soy sauce and some slivered almonds and a little crumbled bacon. Not as healthy, but so good!!
