Goodbye “not-so-smart” Phone

July 11, 2012 by

I have been dreaming of a vacation with my husband for quite some time. What once started as a 10 day cruise, became a few days at the beach, but heck, I’ll take it. As I’m sitting here looking at the ocean, I have decided that a vacation is just what the doctor ordered. When I get the one on one time with my husband, I realize I REALLY love dating him. When I get a little ALONE time to relax, I become rejuvenated. When I’m away from my kids, I miss them like crazy and become a better mother because of it. It’s a win/win all  around. Yes, I need to plan more of these. ;)

While I’ve been here, I have been enjoying my new smart phone. Sheesh, until now I have been living in the dark. Everyone has been using “smart phones,” and well, I have been using a “not-so-smart” phone. It looked a little something like this:

Bwahaha! Okay, okay. It wasn’t THAT bad, but it was a couple years old, and we all know a couple years in cell phone world means ANCIENT.  It was definitely time for an upgrade. I got my hands on the new  Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone, and WOW.

goodbye phone

The day I received my new Windows Phone in the mail, I literally stayed up until 3 am discovering uncountable features. It was in that moment that I realized I might as well have been living with the Flinestones the past few years. ;)

Flash back to my beach vacation. Of course, I brought my new fancy shmancy device. Quite honestly, I’m not sure how I lived without this thing. While sitting on the beach today, I connected with business partners, friends, family, and most importantly,… my little ones back home.

My favorite feature of this beauty is how easy it is to stay connected. I can take a picture, e-mail it, Facebook it, or text it to any of my contacts in less than 5 seconds. All of  my contacts’ social accounts are meshed together onto one screen, pulling up-to-date info from ALL of their feeds. It is the most social-friendly phone I have ever seen. A-mazing.

While on the beach, I snapped this picture of this hunk…

…and within seconds shared ”Daddy on the Beach” with our kiddos back home.

I took several vacation pictures on my phone so I can send them randomly to my husband throughout the year. Hopefully these image texts will hold us over until our next romantic getaway.

And don’t even get me started on my FAVORITE new game, Wordament. Are you on Wordament? I’ll need your ID, because you, my friend, are going DOWN. ;)

goodbye phone

I can’t believe how the world has changed over the past 15 years. We are so lucky to have the technology that we do, don’t you think? How do you use your smart phone? I really can’t wait to tell you more about my new best friend. And luckily, this is just one of three fabulous Windows Phone posts coming your way. Stay tuned…

I’m headed back to the beach. Do yourself a favor a plan a getaway (even a mini-getaway on a budget) sometime soon. I think you’ll agree that it is just what the doctor ordered.
