Four Dollar Store Frames

4 Dollar Store Frames

You thought one frame turned out cute…how about FOUR!

Check out the ‘Please Remove Your Shoes’ Post if you missed it. remove-your-shoes-post

1.  These are four frames I found in the dollar section at Michaels.

2.  Just use fun paper and mod podge it on. (Click here for 10 steps for perfect Mod Podge).

I did not stain these.  I left them in the ‘raw’ and LOVE how they turned out! 4 Dollar Store Frames

3. Use an eyelet and hook that can be found at any hardware store.  They don’t need to be specific size.  Just choose one that looks good:).

4.  Pre-drill a hole into the frame. {If you’ve never used a drill before…Yea! You’ll love it!  Just pick it up and start.  Try on a scrap piece of wood first so you don’t ruin your frame}

Be sure to predrill a hole the same size or smaller than the eye and hook.  I measured one inch from each end of the frame.

5.  Screw the hook to the bottom of the frames and the eyelets to the top of the frames.  You only need 3 sets because the top has the handle. Make sure you screw in the hooks and eyelets evenly.  You don’t want one hook longer than the other or your frames will hang funny.

6.  For the handle holes, you’ll need to drill bigger holes so you can push the ribbon through.  Tie a knot to hold the handle onto the frame.  If you need a handle ask your local welder for a ‘c shaped handle’ with ‘clam ends’ or go to mytalkingwalls and tell her you want to buy one.  She has plenty to share:)  Love ya Amy! 4 Dollar Store Frames

7.  Attach all the frames together and admire…they are super cute!

If you need picture prints to put in these adorable frames,…or to use on your My Favorite Things craft, Kodak is offering New KODAK Gallery Members get 50 FREE prints. This offer expires Jan 31st.

I LOVE these! I will have to wander over to the dollar store nearby and pick up a few frames to try this out – would make a great baby shower gift – label each frame for growth (0mos, 3mos, 6mos, 9mos, 12mos, etc)!

    LOVE THESE! ADORABLE!

And now you really got me thinking…I have been wanting to hang baby pics of my hubby, me and the kids all at the same age, just to compare, and this would be an adorable way to do it. I think I would spray paint the eyelet and hooks black to match my other picture frames, but still use the scrapbook paper..and then maybe cut some vinyl for above the saying to say something about our family has a common thread or something..have to work more on the saying…hmmmmmm…

Thanks for the inspiration!! Now I just have to get to Michael’s!

  5. Oh my gosh those are so cute! I see a trip to Michaels this weekend :)

  6. Margot says:

What a fun way to show off those family photos. I suppose I could think of a way to make them accordion-style to set on a mantle too. And oh, can I just say how much I love affordable crafts? Thanks :)

Where did you get the handle? I clicked on the website you sent me too, but didn’t see them anywhere.

  13. I love your creativity! :-) I think I need to hit the dollar store. Like today.

  14. That is a fantastic idea! I think it’d also look really cute if you used ribbon & small bows to attach the top sides to the hooks.

I am in the process of coping your idea for grandparents that live out of state. I love, love, LOVE it and I know they will too. I actualy found purse handles on sale at JoAnn fabrics 2 for under $3! They are dark brown wood and I think it will look just as awesome as hangers. They have slits for the ribbon to fit right through. I am also toying with the idea of adding some sort of tag that says “Even when we are apart, you are always in our hearts!” Thanks for the great idea!!

  18. Nancy says:

fabulous creativity! i can’t wait to get started on this and many more fun ideas on your blog!!!
