Those of us you don’t have a metal shop you can actually buy this metal in home depot in the roofing department they carry about three different sizes, and they are all under $1.

I have been to my local dollar store and picked up 12″x12″ metal sings with not so cute pictures on them and use these as magnet boards, for a dollar you can’t go wrong and they are a great size!

I have done several magnet boards covered with various fabrics, papers, vinyl they work great. Just use strong magnets (not the self-adhesive strip of magnet tape)

I saw it last year for around $7, but if you google ‘craft coupons’ you might be able to find a %50 off coupon to Michael’s, Roberts, Craft Warehouse…whatever store is in your area!

I’ve been thinking of doing something similar but with corkboard squares and fabric… think I like this better! Any idea how much the metal is in craft stores?

I wonder if you could cover the whole thing with fabric (with Modge Podge as the glue) and it still be magetic enough to hold the magnets?

thanks for the wonderful post! i planned to make something like this with our MOPS group this spring and would have never thought of going to a metal shop. i probably would have ended up overpaying for the metal!
