Designer paper with the kidos!
Is it fun? Yup!
Is it ‘magic’? Yup!
Is it messy? Yup!
Easy Craft Idea? Yup!
Perfect for kids and a mothers entertainment.
Easy Craft Idea
Items needed:
- Paper
- Shaving Cream
- Paper Plate
- Food Coloring
- Tooth Picks
- Cute Kids (will I guess the kids can be optional if you and your hubby want to make the paper)
I think the gel kind of food coloring works wonders. The goop is easier to guide through the shaving cream.
The flat tooth pick were from the ‘Great Magic Trick #1′ if you want to entertain the troops while they make their paper.
Put a dab of shaving cream on the plate and smear it around. Here starts the messy fun part.
Have them pick out the color of choice.
Draw the food coloring into the shaving cream.
We had to start over because the green needed to go first…according to squirt #1.
Press the paper into swirl mess {{note the blue got back into the swirl???}}.
Take the paper and scrap off the shaving cream with a knife. Let the paper dry. They can write notes or draw pictures on the fancy paper.
Designer paper right in your back yard and your kids will think you are cool because you let them make a mess! Oh, its super easy to clean up with a garden hose. The table you ask? Oh, I was talking about the kids! Do it quickly because they run away fast!

Such a cute idea!
How Fun! I am going to try this today. My kids are board out of their minds and it’s only 9am!
Thanks!!
I like the hosing them off idea. Clean up done quick.
I love this!!
This paper would make the cutest cards for grandparents!
Thanks for posting this. I have this stuff at my house already!
What kind of paper did you use? Did you have to do anything special to keep it from curling?

It was just copy paper. If it curls try using a thicker paper (like card stock). Have fun!
Great idea! My son will LOVE this.
Talk about a kids’ favorite art project EVER! Playing with shaving cream! Such a fun idea Alison.
I saw this idea in a magazine two summers ago. My kids had a blast and I ended up with some fabulous framed art!
I did this with acrylic paint and then rinsed then with water in the sink. I am doing this with my after school art club next month. I haven’t tried this yet, but have heard you can iron them to make them lay flat again. Worth a try.

This is a great kid friendly idea. It’s a bit cold out right now, but I;ll have to store this one away for a lazy summer afternoon when I start to hear “I’m bored!”
