Easter Oreo Suckers
March 24, 2010 by Shelley
I was stressing about what to make for this featured post (with all of these fancy shmancy bakers involved and all). Then it dawned on me! Back to an easy HowDoesShe basic! Oreo Cookie Suckers with an Easter twist. Wouldn’t these be adorable in kids Easter baskets? Bring on Spring!
{I’ve often gawked over Bakerella’s CakePops on a stick, but I just know they’d end in diaster if I attempted them, so this is my ‘HowDoesShe’ easified version. Ya, Ya,…easified is a made up word,…deal with it}.
I used the our EASY Oreo Sucker Tutorial with a few small changes…
I started with Golden Chocolate Oreo’s because I was going to be using light colored melting chocolate.
I am sure regular Oreo’s would work fine too,…I just decided to switch things up a little.
Decorating supplies I used:
1. 1/4 Icing Eyes online or you probably could find them at a local baking supply shop. They are fun to have on hand and super cheap. Way better than attempting them with frosting. Another option is white M&M’s or white Sixlets (found in the crafting party section at Walmart)
2. Orange Jelly Beans or Willy Wonka Giant Nerds (jelly beans can be found in bulk at Winco or buy a package on the candy aisle). I couldn’t decided which one I liked best. What do you think?
3. Pink Heart Sprinkles or you can also find them at most craft stores.
4. Wilton Yellow Candy Melts and Wilton White Candy Melts
. You can also find them at nearly any craft store.
5. Wilton White Jimmies or white Sprinkles. Again, any craft store.
For the Easter chicks, I dipped the cookies in yellow melts, placed them on wax paper, did a swirly hair detail, added eyes, and used a half of a jelly bean for the beak…EASY…
For the Easter Bunnies, I dipped them in white melts, added the eyes, heart sprinkle nose, and piped melted chocolate for the mouth. For the ears I placed a bit of warm melting chocolate on wax paper, and added 4 sprinkle hearts. I let them harden (I put them in the fridge to speed up the process). I then pasted them on the bunnies face with a little more melting chocolate. Make sense? I am sure there are a bjillion other things you could use as ‘ears’ too.
These make me smile,…and laugh a little,…I don’t know why.
My two year old thought it was soooo funny to bite off the bunnies ears. He would giggle and say ‘that’s silly mommy’. Cutie pie.
To finish up, I wrapped them individually in treat bags. They are ready to be placed in Kids Easter Baskets or handed out to friends.
Easy! Easy!
If you give these a try, please snap a picture and upload it to the new HowDoesShe FLICKR group! We want to see your stuff!

Oh my goodness, I just found a new favorite blog! Those cookies are ADORABLE by the way! I just wish I’d seen them sooner because they would have been so much fun to make for tomorrow. But you know what? I have a baby shower coming up and might be able to talk someone into letting me baby cookies (yes, for my own shower lol). Those would be cute, I bet!
Anyway, um.. yeah, you are awesome! haha
I really love the “wonder bread” apron.. it makes me think of birthday cake for some reason lol

I really like all the retro aprons at the Lovers Dover site – but I think the black one with the cherry print is my favorite. Please enter me in the drawing again.
Thank you.

This is soooo cute!!! I can’t wait to try making them with some help from my granddaughter.
Can you tell me how much melting chocolate is needed per package of Oreos, or for a certain amount of Oreos? These would be adorable Easter treats for my son’s pre-school class! I just need to figure out how much I’d need of each item.
Thanks so much!
GET OUT OF HERE… THESE ARE TO MUCH! LOVE THEM! winks- jen

Hi Shelley! Love your blog!!!! I am doing a Sweet Shoppe Party for my soon to be two year old and LOVE the dipped Oreos….wondering how far in advance they can be made up. My Party is Sept 3 and I was hoping I could make these up about 1 week in advance….any thoughts on how to store them and for how long???? THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Kathleen
I am sure you could do them a week in advance!
Just make sure they are wrapped.
I want to see pictures. good luck with your party!
Cute pops! I especially love this idea because there is no baking involved. I posted more no-bake pop ideas on my blog.
wow! these are awesome! i will try the easter bunny for my daughter’s preschool. can’t wait!!! thanks for sharing!
Just tried these and the sticks broke the oreos apart… tried pressing them back together, but the cookies fell apart when I tried to dip them Any advice?
Thanks!
Make sure the stick is dried in. Put them in the fridge for a bit before dipping.
Hope that helps.
