A night stand for under $20
i’m so excited to be posting over here at HOW DOES SHE! oh how i adore this site!! well, i pondered several ideas over with alison, and this was the one she liked the most!!!A night stand for under $20we moved into our home almost exactly one year ago and our “old” bedroom furniture made it’s way to our extra bedroom, but our mattress found it’s way on our floor…..for almost a year! i kept my mouth shut, but my sweet hubby knew that i was DYING to get furniture!

when he told me we could go on vacation this year or buy the bed that i was dreaming of, i knew that a “vacation spot” would most likely be waiting for us next year. . .

so. . . .good things come to those who wait! but wait? we got the bed, right?

well, we did buy the bed, but he said i didn’t include the mattress in my discussion. . .so again, we waited almost 2 months, and finally got a mattress to fit the bed!

so. . .now i need a nightstand! i wanted something completely different, but yet, something on the romantic side!

well, i fell in love with the terrific trio table from ballard designs, but of course, i wouldn’t dare pay that for my nightstand!!
so i had to get crafty. . .and by crafty. . .i mean cheap!A night stand for under $20

i found this table at a thrift store for 4 dollars, but they are sold at wal-mart and k-mart for around 10 dollars!

i knew that the height would be a bit of an issue due to hubby’s nightstand standing taller. .. so i thought and thought how to raise it up a tad!

HA! after tripping over some blocks, it came to me! glue those little suckers together and then glue them to my table! next, i bought a large round tablecloth for 7 dollars, trimmed in a delicate crocheted lace. and i placed my wal-mart glass ($6) on top! but it just wasn’t right, so i searched and searched ebay for the “right” antique crocheted or fringed tablecloth, but i couldn’t find one in my price range for what i wanted.A night stand for under $20
as i was cleaning out the linen closet, i came across an embroidered blanket that was given to us as a wedding present and the light bulb went off!

so here is my nightstand for under 20 dollars!!!

Okay this is Alison, and I had to add a few things.  Jessica is an amazing photographer and has some fun ideas that I wanted to make sure you saw.

So when I was over poking around Jessica’s site and I found this idea.  Wait until you see what she did with this once ugly table leaf.

Or how about…boiling a mans shirts!?!  Seriously, there is a cozy idea behind this one.

Boiling a shirt…humm.

Okay and her Front Porch!  I want her to come and decorate mine!

These look like they came out of a magazine and she redid it herself!

Thanks Jessica for guest posting on HowDoesShe.  You have amazing talents and thanks for sharing!

Looks wonderful! Best part – it’s inexpensive. Gotta love those cheap round tables. But I like the way you thought of how to make it taller.

    hey guys….
the bed came from knoxville wholesale furniture. it’s broyhill.

the bedskirt came from k-mart. it’s country living.

the bedspread came from jcpenney. it’s american living and it’s modern country. it’s not on the website anymore, but it’s on ebay. the bedskirt that came with the set wasn’t as “romantic” as i liked, but i LOVE the one from k-mart!!!!

anymore questions, just leave the questions on my blog!

thanks so much for loving it!!!!
