BabbaCo is what? …and giveaway!

Remember when educational and engaging activities outside of school meant watching an episode of Slim Goodbody (not to say anything negative about Slim, he’s totally hot and smart) or Reading Rainbow? Well surprisingly enough, the children of today aren’t really “in to” what Levar Burton and Slim Goodbody have to offer. Enter BabbaCo. Don’t know what that is? Let’s talk about it.
BabbaCo is a fun way to simultaneously educate and entertain your kids (or neighbor children that you babysit) without them knowing they are being educated. See how that works? Genius.
BabbaCo sent an amazing box of goodies for my kids – it was kind of like cool homework that they would actually want to do. Our box had a galactic-y theme with the sun and the moon and stars and all sorts of space fun.
I let them know something was coming in the mail for them…when we got it they were so excited until I told them we had to wait until the weekend…enter in evil villain laugh.
I wanted to make sure we had enough time to dive into the box.
My kids were loving this stuff. This stuff is modern and cool and (let’s just say it) inspiring.
They were entertained for a long time and everything was there and ready – it’s all included in the box (and the instructions are easy to follow). It was pretty fun to see how excited they were from a “learning activity”.
Look at this learning happening…makes a mama’s heart sing!
Take note of the big ‘m’s for the earrings. This was well thought out as to which pair she wanted to wear for the HDS post….Hello pre-teen!
There was a paper maché...incident along the way.
We had left our project out to dry when a storm picked it up and took it away. It’s probably on an island with Tom Hanks and Wilson the volleyball at this very moment. Anyway, back to the matter at hand – we would have used the extra balloon they sent us but my little guy sat on it.
We’ll be making a trip for more balloons as my kids are nothing short of PUMPED to finish the project with the tea light that shows “what the moon looks like”.
Seriously, this was a great project for my kids. It was fun, easy, brought their IQs up to genius-level, kept them occupied for a while, and made me feel like an amazing parent – sculpting the minds of the future (like a boss).

Love this idea! I do want to say one thing (as a science teacher). You might want to let them know that there is a typo on the fact sheet. The sun is 93 MILLION miles away, not 93 miles. I’m sure they know this, and just didn’t catch it before it went to print.
These activity packs are a great idea, though! My little one is only 2, but I’ll add them to Pinterest to remember for when he is older. Thanks for sharing.
