59 Spots left…Free Kids Craft Group in Utah for Toys for Tots!
December 1, 2010 by Alison
I asked my daughters to help with this post. They are 9 and 6. They are fun kids with huge blue eyes!
A couple of years ago my girls wanted to give service in our community. We called a few places (homeless shelter, womens shelter, food bank…) and they were told they were
too young and needed to wait until they were 12…understandable.
BUT they really wanted to do something good. They got together with some friends and started ‘Kids Giving To Kids.’
They decided to do a craft group for kids. Instead of charging money for the craft they wanted to collect toys for toys for tots. A kids craft for a toy for charity. Sounds great!
When we were in Idaho we would send this out to friends and in 24 hours it would fill with 150+ kids. Well…we moved and our firends can’t make it to Utah this year. So we are extending it to you. Families in the Upper Utah area. We invite you to come and participate! We have 100 spots available…79 left after we’ve sent it to the few people we know here:)
This is run by the kids(for the most part). They call and get everything donated.
They get the kits ready, email confirmations back, run the stations, teach how to make the crafts, pass out hot chocolate and cookies.
We as parents just do the crowd control.
So here is their invitation to you…
well you and your kids:)
79 Spots Left (as of right now)

These pictures were taken at the group last year. This year will be at a warehouse. A fancy warehouse, but not a cool fire station like last year. They found the best place they could:)
If you do something fun with your family for charity…Please leave a comment. We’ve gotten a lot of emails asking about ways that families can help out in their communities. Share the ideas here! Giving service bring more joy to the giver then the receiver!

I’m going to miss this in Boise this year. You Utah gals are lucky!
This is such a wonderful thing you are doing! What a great experience for everyone involved.
I am happy you are continuing on in Utah! Maybe we will continue the Boise chapter next year…
SO fun!
This sounds like a GREAT idea. I was ready to sign up and bring my kids…. but the date and time do not work with my schedule. Is there any other way to make this work? Please email me!
This is such a great idea. I love that kids are learning early on the importance of helping others. Just makes me happy.
I wish I lived up that way. I would love to bring my kids. Such a wonderful thing you are doing to teach the kids to give. Especially this time of year.
What a fantastic idea! We gather as an extended family each year and participate in a service project. We started out shopping for Sub for Santa- for families we had found. The last couple years we started making fleece blankets and collecting socks and gloves for the homeless teenage population in Salt Lake- there are hundreds of kids with nothing and nowhere to go- and they have no funding to help them. My kids like it so much, my first grader chose it as his tradition to share with his class, so we had all the kids help us make our blanket to donate!
I’m proud of your girls for wanting to reach out, and of you for helping facilitate such a great event!
I think good toys for my child and this offer forme.
Thanks,
