Idea #3

2×4 to Sweethearts

What a fun way to display your kids!!!  I actually had them paint a picture of themselves and we hung them on the blocks, but they weren’t dry and the paint dripped and then you couldn’t tell what they were…hence the actual pictures(which I love).  Anyways, I thought it would be fun each year to have them draw a picture of themselves to display on this Valentine holder.   Each year we make it a tradition to ‘draw’ themselves.  It not only gives me a cute picture, but it also gives me a sense of how they see themselves and how their self image is evolving.  As a mother it worries me to no end {{I’m sure you know the feeling}} about making sure my children have self esteem and feel confident in themselves as they go into the big crazy world.  So as I look over their drawings over the next few years I will see how they see and I will get to know my child a little better!

So here is a tutorial on idea #3 and #4(it’s at the bottom) on what to do with a 2×4!

2x4 to Sweethearts and Why I'm Lucky

1.  Cut your 2×4

4-3.5×3.5

4.  .  Mod Podge cute St. Patrick’s day paper on the backs of the 4 blocks and on the back edge and bottom of the long block.

5.  Add your ‘My Sweethearts’ vinyl (need Vinyl 101 click here) or use your Cricut!…or print it out onto your paper before you Mod Podge it! then…are you ready to see the back?

What font did you use for My Sweethearts and Why I am lucky? It is so cute!

    • Alison says:

google peas for fonts. Amanda is the designer and she has a ton of cute free fonts. I am sure it’s one of those. I’ve been better lately at adding the name of the font. I am sorry I didn’t add this one and I’ve forgotten:)
